Spanish 3D firm to support London Olympics 3D coverage
Olympic Broadcasting Services have selected Kronomav’s IN3D LIVE solution to be used at the North Greenwich Arena (currently called the O2) where it will be integrated into an Alfacam OB Van, where Thompson Grass Valley LDK 8000 cameras will be used.
It will be used to handle the 3D acquisition of the basketball, trampoline and artistic gymnastic games, all taking part in the world's largest indoor music venue.
The latest IN3D LIVE System designed by Kronomav controls the 3D acquisition workflow through its main 2 parts: their fully Robotized STC-303 RIGS, and their Stereoscopic Real-time Image Processor, that besides calibrating and operating Kronomav Rigs, allows to control remotely other kind of 3D cameras, as e.g.: the Panasonic AG3D-P1. Panasonic cameras, as official Olympic partner, will be used across the venues in conjunction with 3ality Technica rigs.
Kronomav systems were also used for 3D coverage of the Roland Garros 2011, the Spanish Soccer League (La Liga BBVA) and the Champions League Semifinals.
The London Olympics will begin in just 31 day’s time and so will the most ambitious live 3D TV event ever, with over 200 hours of live 3D coverage being produced. In the UK, BSkyB will be opening the Sky 3D channel to all its 4 million plus HD subscribers over July and August where viewers will have access to Eurosport’s 3D coverage for free.
