In yet another glasses free 3D announcement (could 2012 be the year of glasses free 3D?) glasses free 3D device manufacturer WikiPad Inc. is debuting an 8” 1080p touch screen tablet computer that doubles up as a handheld game console.
The WikiPad (which ships with the latest Android 4.0 operating system known as Ice Cream Sandwidge looks like a regular tablet computer until the video game controller is attached which features thumbpads and coloured select buttons.
Unlike the 3DS, there are no twin cameras for user generated 3D content but there is a single front and rear camera for video recording, video chat and image taking. A micro SD card slot can extend the inbuilt 8GB of flash storage up to 64GB and mini HDMI and USB 2.0 connections allow it to be connected to AV equipment and other computers.
The WikiPad can playback 1920 X 1080 video (2D) in H.264, VC1, VOB, ISO, M2TS, and FLV video formats.
Further details are sketchy but the WikiPad glasses free 3D tablet computer will be available to purchase online in the Spring from wikipad.com and retailers worldwide.
