Sir David Attenborough and Jim Mainard (Dreamworks Animation) will be speaking at the inaugural 3D Creative Summit at BFI 27-28 March 2013.
Ravensbourne College, who hosted the 3D Storytelling events in 2011 and 2012, have joined the International 3D Society to hold a new event at the BFI, London. With the I3DS involved, there are several 3D movie experts joining the speaker's line up including Phil McNally (Dreamworks, The Croods), Cameron Saunders (Managing Director UK Theatrical, 20th Century Fox) and Jim Mainard (Dreamworks Animation).
"We are delighted to fund the 3D Creative Summit which will reinforce the UK’s position as a global hub for creative 3D production. We look forward to hearing from world class industry practitioners about the exciting opportunities and current issues facing 3D production both in the UK and internationally" said Dan Simmons, Head of Film, Creative Skillset.
John Cassy, Head of Sky 3D will return saying: “The Summit is a great way for the UK’s sharpest creative minds to gather to discuss and debate the issues and opportunities that 3D film making presents. Sky is proud to be a supporter of the event, we look forward to sharing some of our 3D experiences and learning from others”.
The event will also feature a series of exclusive screenings and in depth Q & A’s including:
• Mr Stink – with director Declan Lowney, sharing his experiences in making this Christmas TV Movie.
• 3D Online Showcase – with SGO's Geoff Mills and ONSIGHTS's Andy Shelley
• 3D & The Cinema – with 20th Century Fox’s Cameron Saunders, Odeon’s Drew Kaza and Deluxe’s Richard Fish.
• Inside The Mind of Leonardo – with director Julian Jones, showing highlights from this film.
For the first time, the 3D Creative Summit will also be running a ‘3D Producers Lab’ where a selected group of producers will have access to the leading UK and international 3D experts. There will also be a half day Research Programme with Dr Lizzie Jackson, Head of Learning Innovation at Ravensbourne, which will draw together academia and industry to critically examine stereoscopic film and television.
“Ravensbourne is absolutely delighted to be working with the International 3D Society on this exciting event. Building on the work of 3D Storytelling over the last couple of years, we are really looking forward to celebrating the exceptional 3D work being produced in the UK and International markets." said Carrie Wootten, Head of Commercial Development, Ravensbourne.
Unlike the free 3D Storytelling events, there will be a charge to attend the 3D Creative Summit. Prices range from £45 to £99 and an early bird discount is available.
