Zhejiang Tianlu Photoelectric Co. Ltd R & D have unveiled a glasses free 3D theatre system that offers a 140 degree viewing angle, suitable for the home.
The media have been impressed with its presentation at the China Electronics Fair which opened on August 16th. The makers say that the display can be viewed for a long time without the fatigue induced by glasses based systems. This is the first system of its kind to be launched for the domestic Chinese market and includes a HD player and Hi-Fi speakers. Content can be played from a 3D Blu-ray player, home network or from online sources and is converted to a glasses free 3D format in real-time.
Tianlu Photoelectric have invented a ‘super slit grating’ technology which they claim increases the brightness, clarity and resolution compared to other auto-stereoscopic systems, up to 720P.
It can also convert PlayStation 3 games and, when it goes on sale, will be compatible with China’s test CCTV 3D channel which broadcasts 13.5 hours of 3D content a day. The Chinese Government plan to launch a further 9 3D TV channels by the end of 2015 so there will be plenty to watch on the 3D home theatre system.
